      Learning Objectives

      • Complete challenges on the bingo cards to explore the different functionalities that Marty has
      • Program Marty using Scratch or Python

      1. Break the class into groups of 3-5 students where each group gets a Marty, a programming device, enough bingo cards for each student to get one and a deck of challenge cards (where there are at least one of each symbol for each student in the group in the deck)

      2. Decide on the order of turns in the group – such as youngest to oldest or tallest to smallest

      3. During their turn, the student takes the card at the top of the deck and without turning it over, completes the challenge on the front of the card using the programming device and Marty

      a. Each student can ask for help once from someone during the game but if they do get help with their challenge then that player may also tick off the symbol on their bingo card

      4. If the team has decided that the student has satisfied the challenge, then they can flip over the card to reveal the symbol on the back. The student can then tick or stamp off this symbol from their bingo card

      5. Repeat going around the group until one student has managed to tick off all symbols, in which case they have to shout EASTER BINGO!

      Extensions & Support

      • To make things even trickier, set a limit on the amount of time that students can take to complete the challenge on the card that they have drawn
      • Ask students how they would improve the game or what changes they would make, get them to plan this and test it out with other students in the class
